L is for Love

There is no doubt about the love parents have for their children.

But what adoptive parents can’t ignore is that you cannot love the trauma out of a child.

Children who have experienced separation at birth or who come from hard places need love and more. They need a dedicated understanding that their ability to connect and attached may be compromised. Their parents must acknowledge that it could take extra effort to overcome trauma behaviors, even in children adopted at birth.

Love is necessary - that goes without saying. And so is the action of loving through dedicated trauma-informed practices.
