A closet for children who need things of their own.

when children experience the disruption of an emergency placement, they don’t always have the chance to gather belongings. They Arrive at their new home with very little clothing or necessities. if they bring anything at all, it’s often shoved - hastily - into a garbage bag.

Their whole life has been uprooted, and their existence is carried in a trash bag.

The Hope Chest exists to ease the trauma and transition of placement, restoring hope through an open door so that foster, adoptive, and kinship children and the families that love them can get what they need.

If you have a new foster placement and are in need of items to support your child, Request a Hope Bag to have items delivered directly to your door.

How it works

The Hope Chest provides new and gently used clothing, shoes, and other essential items at no cost to foster youth and kinship or adoptive families. Each child receives a backpack and duffel bag, delivered directly to their home, to help carry their belongings.

Families who have experienced an emergency foster, adoption, or kinship placement can receive Hope Bags and care packages delivered directly to their home.

Available items include:

- Clothing and shoes for children of all ages

- Blankets and bedding

- Games, toys, and books (when available)

- Hygiene kits
