Meet the Weaver Family

We Are the Weaver Family!

Adoption has been woven into our hearts for many years. From the very beginning of our marriage, we knew we wanted to open our home to children in need. Our journey began in 2018 when we adopted our youngest son, Nathan, from China. Now, we are stepping out in faith once again as we prepare to bring home our daughter, Mengyu, from Taiwan.

Our adoption journey has been one of both expected and unexpected challenges, but through it all, we have seen God’s faithfulness. When we met Nathan “TenTen”, he was five years old and able to walk independently. However, after coming home, we discovered he had Atlantoaxial Instability (AAI), a serious neurological condition. He underwent brain surgery in 2019, and while he now uses a walker, we are incredibly grateful for his health and the miracle that he is not paralyzed. Adoption has changed our family in ways we never imagined, teaching us patience, perseverance, and the incredible depth of God’s provision.

This new adoption journey is another step of faith. While adoption never left ShaMei’s heart, she prayed for God to align her desire with Nate’s, and in His perfect timing, He did. We have been matched with Mengyu, a little girl in Taiwan who has been in a foster home for the past five years. We are hoping to bring her home in April or May of 2025.

We have been incredibly blessed with a strong support system, including our family, friends, and our church, Faith Wesleyan in Williamsport. Though we often struggle to ask for help, we have felt the love and encouragement of our community. We have also completed trauma-informed training through our agency in Texas and additional education through TenTen’s adoption program to ensure we are prepared to meet our children’s unique needs.

Adoption comes with many sacrifices, but we trust in God’s provision. We live simply, drive older cars, and do what we need to ensure our family has everything necessary. Each time, God has made a way, and we know He will again.

On January 30, 2025, we received a $30,000 adoption grant from Dwell, an incredible blessing that will help ease the financial burden of this adoption. We are beyond grateful for this support, which allows us to focus on what matters most—preparing our home and hearts to welcome Mengyu into our family.

"The impact of the grant given to us by Dwell is indescribable. I took some time to try to put into words the significance of this generous gift, but words fail to fully express its meaning. We started the adoption process knowing that God would provide a way, and now Dwell has become part of that way. We are deeply grateful, and we recognize that Dwell wouldn’t have been able to do this without the support of every single donor who believes in their mission—and in our family" says ShaMei Weaver.

As we continue forward, we ask for prayers—that we are prepared for whatever may come, that Mengyu’s heart is being prepared for this transition, and that the family who has cared for her in Taiwan will also feel peace. We are so thankful for this journey and for the incredible ways God is leading us through it.
