Q is for Questions

No amount of love, structure, and nurturing will keep your adopted child from asking the hard questions.

Why me?
Why couldn’t they keep me?
Why didn’t they try harder?
Where are they now?

Their questions are the honest seeking for the truth of themselves.

We can’t be prepared for when or how often these questions will come. And we can’t know how deeply our children will question their stories and identity in regards to their adoption.

Our job is to keep loving them through it and to support them by providing as many answers as we can. As they grow and mature, we may need to take a back seat as they question, or step up to help them through the process of finding the answers they seek.

And, always, to keep showing love along the way.
